When you die, your items don't scatter. They go into a death burrow at the spot you died, and only you can see it or open it.
Getting your items back
- Walk back to your burrow: within 3 blocks, at about the same height. It digs itself up and your items go back into their own slots, armour on. (A burrow in a cave can't be dug up from the surface above it.)
- Anything that doesn't fit stays in the burrow.
- Your XP is in there too.
How long it waits
Your burrow waits for 3 hours of playtime. Time offline and on the death screen doesn't count. Ranks wait longer:
| Rank | Burrow lasts |
|---|---|
| No rank, Sailor, Pirate | 3 hours |
| Corsair | 6 hours |
| Captain | 9 hours |
| Custom | 12 hours |
Finding it
- After you respawn you have a Burrow Map. Hold it and follow the arrow: it shows the way and the distance. It doesn't teleport you, dying means walking back.
- Your burrows show on your own map too: type (see Your Map).
- lists your burrows with their X, Y and Z, and gets you a map again.
- Died in lava or the void? Your burrow sits on the last safe ground you stood on. No safe ground nearby? It goes on the nearest ground, or on top of the lava, never inside it.
- Drowned or died under water? Your burrow floats up to the surface (unless you were in an underwater cave).
Died again before getting back? Every death makes its own burrow with its own clock, and the Burrow Map points to the newest one.
